What Are My Options for Cosmetic Dental Care?
Cosmetic dental services include various techniques that focus on improving the overall appearance of your smile. Whether you desire whiter teeth or are looking into more extensive adjustments, esthetic dental care can help you!
Our cosmetic treatments include:
Our team will help you decide on one or more of our cosmetic dental treatments based on your individual needs, goals, and desires.
Does Esthetic Dental Care Have Other Benefits?
Yes! Cosmetic dental care can also provide many benefits for your smile’s health and function in addition to improving appeal. Services such as composite fillings, bonding, inlays, onlays, and bridges, partials, and dentures offer restorative advantages as well. These treatments work to strengthen and protect your teeth after damage, without compromising beauty.
What If I Want to Improve My Smile’s Appeal While Fixing Damage?
If you visit us for cosmetic dental care and we discover any damage, we will focus on restoring foundational health first. Fortunately, with treatments like porcelain crowns, we have options to repair your smile and improve esthetics at the same time.
Dental crowns are appealing restorations which are placed over a weak or severely damaged tooth, encasing its structure for additional protection.
Advantages of Dental Crowns
Crowns can be used for many esthetic and restorative purposes; the most common seven can include:
- Protecting a treated tooth after root canal treatment
- Helping anchor and attach a dental bridge
- Replacing a missing tooth when affixed to a dental implant
- Improving the beauty of your smile
- Providing symmetry to a misshapen tooth
- Strengthening a weakened or fractured tooth
- Sealing-off a large cavity
Why We use CEREC Crowns
It can be frustrating and uncomfortable waiting to have your smile fixed after you’ve experienced an accident or have dental pain. At Bloom Dental, we know you want to get back to your normal routine as quickly as possible, especially after a dental emergency or root canal therapy. With our CEREC technology crowns, we can help restore your function and comfort in a single visit.
How Does CEREC Technology Work?
The CEREC machine uses CAD/CAM technology to help us provide you with the
care you need when you need it. This device can often be used to create other restorations such as inlays, onlays, and veneers during a single appointment.
Once the treatment areas are prepared, Dr. Teimouri loads a digital impression of your smile into the device. From there, the milling machine shapes and molds your restoration from a block of ceramic material. Once your new crown is affixed to your smile, we take the time to make sure your restoration feels, functions, and looks entirely natural.
CEREC crowns can also be used in addition to other cosmetic treatments for helping rebuild your entire smile. Dental implants, professional teeth whitening, orthodontic care, and other procedures can be a part of comprehensive treatment plans, allowing us to address extensive dental concerns.
What if There are Multiple Things I Don’t Like About My Smile?
If your smile is in good health overall, but you’re feeling unhappy with the way it looks, porcelain veneers and/or LUMINEERS may provide you with the esthetic solution you’re searching for.
Veneers and LUMINEERS are thin shells that are bonded to the surfaces of your teeth for improving the overall appeal of your smile. Our dentist can also recommend dental veneers to help address other issues.
What Can LUMINEERS and Veneers Address?
Both LUMINEERS and veneers are designed to mask certain smile limitations. The shell covers the front of the tooth to cover imperfections and make your smile appear straighter. They can help:
- Close large spaces and gaps between teeth
- Whiten teeth that are severely stained or discolored
- Improve the appearance of irregularly shaped teeth
- Correct slightly crooked or teeth
- Provide additional length to “short” or worn teeth
- Rejuvenate chipped or cracked teeth
- Make a “gummy” looking smile more balanced
When you entrust a dentist who takes the time to listen to your needs, desired outcomes and makes informed recommendations based on your smile, your veneers should look entirely natural. Because these shells are made of porcelain, they can often be matched to the shade and translucency of natural teeth.
How Long-Lasting are Veneers and LUMINEERS?
With the right care, your porcelain veneers or LUMINEERS may continue to balance your smile for over a decade. Care means you should refrain from using your veneers as tools to open and cut things. Though they are strong, they can experience accidental breakage. However, if damage occurs, contact us to schedule an appointment to replace it.
What if I Don’t Like My Misaligned Teeth?
Whether you are an adult, child, or a teen, you deserve a straight, healthy smile. Straighter teeth can:
Make oral hygiene easier to maintain: When your teeth are more aligned, it may make brushing and flossing much more effective. You are less likely to develop plaque, a significant contributor to cavities and gum disease if you can maintain thorough care of your teeth and gums.
Help prevent gum disease and systemic health problems: Having straighter teeth makes it easier for you to clean them, including the gum line. This is essential not only for cavity prevention, but also for gum disease and related health problems such as diabetes, heart disease, and more. Oral bacteria linked to gum disease can travel throughout the bloodstream, which can put you at risk for health problems throughout the body.
Be less prone to bite issues: When an overbite, underbite, or other issues are present, your teeth may be more vulnerable to damage. Rubbing against one another when you speak or chew, can wear down the enamel, lead to chips, cracks, and even tooth breakage.
Help you maintain a healthier diet: You are less likely to consume the foods you need to stay healthy when you have difficulty chewing due to misaligned teeth or if chewing is causing you pain. Sometimes it is very hard to chew healthy foods such as fruits, raw vegetables, nuts, and seeds.
At our Vaughan office, we provide the following treatments to address misalignment:
- Invisalign Clear Braces
What Is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a system of clear, plastic trays that do not require metal brackets or wires. The aligners are designed to fit snugly over your teeth, straightening them gradually with pinpointed pressure. With each tray being shaped a little differently, treatment requires you to wear them in sequence, repositioning your slightly crooked teeth and jaws
How Does Invisalign Work?
While the aligners can be removed during regular eating and performing oral hygiene, they require you to wear them for up to 22 hours daily. This is to help keep your alignment on the right track. About every six weeks, you’ll need to come into our office to receive your next few aligner sets. This helps our dentist monitor your smile’s progression, making sure your teeth are moving into the desired positions.
Will Invisalign work for me?
As with any braces, for Invisalign to work, you often need to adjust your lifestyle, even if it’s just a little bit. This means you’ll need to be compliant with wearing your aligners.
If you’re not strict with wearing the aligners, you may be faced with your treatment taking longer than planned or not achieving your desired results.
These days, most mild to moderate orthodontic cases are suitable for Invisalign. A beneficial factor about Invisalign is that you can usually see what the result will look like before you commit to treatment.
How Can I Help Keep My Aligners Clean and Clear?
We recommended cleaning your aligners with a soft-bristled toothbrush, using a small amount of non-abrasive toothpaste. You can also purchase cleaning methods, like tablets that dissolve in water to use occasionally if you feel your aligners need freshening up. If you have to remove them for any length of time, be sure to keep them in the safe container made just for your aligners.
What Are Fastbraces?
While Fastbraces do use metal components and wires, this form of orthodontic treatment is different. This system is efficient, effective, and designed to provide beneficial results, in a shorter amount of treatment time.
Fastbraces use uniquely shaped brackets and wires that move your entire tooth, from root to crown, at the same time. This helps make treatment comfortable. The system uses a triangular bracket and a square-shaped wire to correct the position of the root of the tooth, from the beginning of treatment.
How Fast Can I Achieve an Improved Smile?
Fastbraces technology gently provides movement of the tooth roots, helping guide them towards their final position. Treatment is designed to help achieve root symmetry, so, from the beginning stages, the desired alignment may be completed in around three months to about a year. In some cases, patients may see results in just weeks!
While aligning crooked teeth and a misaligned jaw often provides beautiful results, straighter teeth can also help you maintain good oral health that is sure to last.
